ROBERT ROPER died on January 21, 1894, at the age of forty. Early in life he held an appointment at the Sheffield and Hallamshire Bank.

In 1881 he resigned his position there, and was appointed Secretary of the Sheffield Forge and Rolling Mills Company.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1891.
