1903-6 With D. A. Matheson Chief engineer of the Caledonian Railway, and continued with the Railway after end of his apprenticeship.
1907 Associate M.Inst.C.E.
Worked on the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, Canada.
1909 Went into private practice in Vancouver as Land Surveyor.
