Rev. John Derbyshire
Derbyshire had been a journeyman carpenter for John Wilkinson, but became a Methodist preacher, married a rich wife, established a small foundry, and wasted his wife's fortune. In 1784 Derbyshire was in partnership with Joshua Wrigley, and they built some of the early cotton mills powered by Savery-type engines.[1]
