1861 Alderman Robert Besley retired which left a gap in the type-founding industry; to fill the gap, his friend Charles Reed set up business in Fann Street (presumably Reed and Fox with Benjamin Fox).

1877 After the death of Benjamin Fox, Charles Reed continued the business which became Sir Charles Reed and Sons
