1954 'The American firm of Latex is to set up a factory on the Port Glasgow industrial estate early next year. The firm, which hopes to employ up to 800 women, will occupy, at the outset, factory space vacated some time ago by a firm of coopers. This extends to 48,000 square feet. They also plan to build a second unit of 75,000 square feet. Negotiations have proceeded for some time between Scottish Industrial Estates and Town Council officials over a water supply. Playtex manufactures women's garments and shipping equipment.'[1]

1958 Playtex, the British subsidiary of the International Latex Corporation of America, which makes women's foundation garments and baby's wear in two factories on the industrial estate at Port Glasgow. Harry Bader, the American-born manager of the Playtex factory'[2]

1961 Factory being extended at Port Glasgow and will be 85,000 sq ft total.[3]

1984 Factory site at Johnstone closed and in 1987 was taken over by a chemical manufacturer.[4]

1991 Acquired by Sara Lee Corporation

1996 Playtex factory in Port Glasgow.[5]

1998 Playtex’s global HQ in Connecticut USA.[6]

1999 'John Dixey, managing director of Playtex, which licences Wonderbra'[7] Playtex Park Industrial Estate Port Glasgow.[8]
