Philip Edward Ripley M.I.Mech.E. of Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies, Orwell Works, Ipswich.

1861 Born son of Rev. Canon W. N. Ripley, of Earlham Hall, Norwich.

Educated at Haileybury College.

Apprenticed to R. and W. Hawthorn

Became a Member of the staff

1885 Joined Ransomes, Sims, and Jefferies

1886 Appointed Managing Director

1905 Appointed Chairman

1919 Resigned when Ruston and Hornsby acquired the ordinary shares in the company but remained on the Board.
