1769 Dec., Born at Newbottle, Metropolitan Borough of Sunderland Tyne and Wear to parents George Austin (1746-1821) and Jane Lawson Austin (1747-1805).[1]

1797 Birth of son John Austin (1797 - 1865).[2]

1799 Birth of daughter Elizabeth Austin (1799 - 1847).[3]

1801 Birth of daughter Jane Austin Milburn (1799 - 1847).[4]

1805 Partnered with Samuel Moore and took over a pottery business changing its name to Wear Pottery and operating under the auspices of S. Moore and Co.[5]

1805 Birth of daughter Barbara Austin Wake (1799 - 1847).[6]

1805 Birth of daughter Ann Austin (1799 - 1847).[7]

Peter married Samuel's sister Jane.[8]

c1808 Birth of son Samuel Peter Austin.

1810 Birth of daughter Margaret Austin Graydon (1799 - 1847).[9]

1812 Birth of son William Austin (1812 - 1812).[10]

1826 Opened the Nova Scotia shipyard at Sandy Point in Monkwearmouth near Dame Dolly's Rock.[11]

Under the leadership of his son, Samuel Peter Austin, the shipyard and firm became quite successful as S. P. Austin and Son. It attained prominence for its collier production during WWI.[12]

1827 Listed as a ship owner at Church Street M.W. [13]

1828 Listed as a ship owner at Dixon Square, M.W. [14]

1841 Living at Dixon Square, Monkwearmouth (age 70), Ship owner. With Elizabeth Austin (age 40) and Ann Austin (age 35). Also two others (not Austin). [15]

1863 May 27th - Died at Bishopwearmouth, Metropolitan Borough of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.[16]
