1874 'NOTICE is hereby given, that the PARTNERSHIP heretofore subsisting between us, the undersigned, carrying on business in copartnership together at the Park Iron Works, Middleton, near Manchester, as ironfounders, tool makers, and machinists, under the style or firm of "Gregson, Brown and Son," was this day DISSOLVED by mutual consent. All debts due to and owing by the late firm are to be received and paid by the said John Brown and Walter Brown, who will continue to carry on the said business under the style or firm of John Brown and Son. - Dated this seventeenth day of November, 1874. 1885 A more detailed advertisement: 'Park Iron Works, Suffield-street, Middleton, Lancashire. MESSRS. C. W. PROVIS & CO., in conjunction with Messrs. MACPHERSON & SON, are instructed to OFFER BY AUCTION, subject to conditions of sale to be then produced, at the Assheton Arms Hotel, Middleton, on the evening of Tuesday, the 19th May, 1885, at six for seven o'clock, one lot, the following LAND, Works, Fixtures, Machinery, Plant, Utensils, and Loose Articles, viz.. All that Plot of Land, lately in the occupation of Messrs. John Brown and Son, as iron founders and machinists, with the smithy, erecting Shop, Mechanics' Shops, Finishing Shops, Moulding Shop, Pattern Shop, Sheds, Stables, and Offices thereon. The fixed Machinery consists of one double-flued 40-horse power Steam Boiler, by Earnshaw, Barlow, and Holt, of Rochdale, 18 feet 6 inches long, by 6 feet diameter; cistern, two horizontal steam engines, by Leather, Matthews, and Co., Manchester, and Reader and Sons, of Nottingham; one pumping engine, one mortar mill, cupola, six smiths' hearths, heating hearth, drying stoves, two single standard steam hammers, one of 2 cwt., anotherof 5 cwt; hammer forging machine, Roots' blower, two pairs of glaziers, double purchase crab barrels, one 26 inch centre treble geared wheel-brake lathe, on base plate 17 feet long; one 11 inch stroke single geared slotting machine, one radial drilling machine, three planing machines, one to plane 4 feet long by 17 inches wide by 17 inches in height, one to plane 6 feet long by 3 feet wide by 2 feet 9 inches height, and the third to plane 3 feet 6 inches Iong 22 inches wide by 18 inches in height; and joiner's benches, vices, and cranes; filters, patterns, and store racks; also one ten-ton weighing machine, by Hodgson and Stead; gas and water pipes, shafting, gearing, pulleys, rollers, and driving apparatus. The Loose Machinery comprises one platform weighing machine, by Berrisford, of Stockport; one wheel moulding machine, one circular saw for hot iron, one 10-inch centre, double-geared, sliding and screw-cutting and surfacing lathe, one upright radial drill, two American lathes, one single-geared drilling-machine, one 11-inch centre double-geared brake lathe, 9 centre single-geared lathes, on beds varying from 4ft. 6in. to 10ft.; 11 double-geared lathes, on beds varying from 7ft. to 20ft.; one single-geared drilling machine. The Loose Articles consist of a quantity of steel and iron bars, and other iron, wheel and tool patterns, millwrights, engineers, and foundry tools; office furniture, chairs, desks, stools, one Milner's safe, 22in. by 27in. by 20in. The site of the premises consists of two plots of 1,104 and 5,020 yards respectively or thereabouts, held for the residue of terms of 999 years respectively, ......
