Brewers of Bridport, Dorset

1794 the Gundry family were rope and net makers; they built the Old Brewery on the banks of the River Brit in Bridport.

1879 The water wheel was installed, forged at a Bridport foundry.

Late 19th century: brothers John Cleeves and Robert Henry Palmer bought the brewery and named it JC & RH Palmer.

1950s traditional horse-drawn brewery drays were withdrawn.

Today, the great grandsons of John Cleeves and Robert Henry, John and Cleeves Palmer, work in the company.
