In 1866, Messrs, Caird built the Company’s largest steamer up to that period, named the TYNWALD. She was a two funnelled boat with the peculiarity of having both funnels aft of the paddle wheels. Her length was 241,3 feet, beam 26.4 feet, and depth moulded 14 feet, gross tonnage 697, Her engines were of 280 n.h.p. She was fitted with two cylinder engines having cylinders 58 in, by 72 in. In 1872, she was re-boilered.
The TYNWALD in 1888 was taken off the service and sold.
