The QUEEN OF THE THAMES and the QUEEN OF THE ORWELL worked between London and Ipswich. In June, 1865, the former vessel ran down the ferry steamer to North Greenwich off Greenwich Pier. The ferry sank in two minutes, but a brig close at hand saved the passengers.
