PS Magnet

From Graces Guide

1826 Built by Tebbutt, Limehouse.

A vessel of 201 tons with 140 horsepower engined by Boulton and Watt, and short, wooden, bluff-bows, as was typical of the packets used on the Thames at that time.

Around 1830 was the fastest boat of the Old Margate Company.

The owners employed Mr Ditchburn to alter the shape of the bows to increase the speed of the vessel, which he did with great success

The MAGNET worked between London—Ramsgate and London—Boulogne until 1847.
