PS Eleanor (1881)

In 1877 and 1881, the Company ordered from Messrs. Laird’s two more steamers, named ISABELLA and ELEANOR respectively, the latter being built to replace the first ELEANOR. They were 254.2 feet long, 30 feet beam and 14.2 feet deep. The former was built of iron and the latter of steel, and both had a speed of 14.5 knots.
The engines of the ISABELLA were two cylinder oscillating having cylinders 64 inches diameter by 72 inches piston stroke, giving 350 n.h.p.; tonnage 842 gross and 421 net. The ELEANOR had two sets of compound oscillating engines having cylinders 36 inches and 60 inches by 78 inch stroke, giving 530 n.h.p.; tonnage 903 gross and 378 net. The ISABELLA was withdrawn from service in February, 1898, and the ELEANOR in July, 1902.
