PS Ben Lomand

1886 For sale by auction. 'The powerful iron Paddle Tugs BEN LOMOND & BEN NEVIS, Both vessels were built by Messrs. Hall, Russell and Co., at Aberdeen, in 1876; measure 121 feet 7 inches by 21 feet 2 inches by 11 feet, and have each two side lever disconnecting engines of 100 hp,, two cylinders 33 inches, 34-inch stroke, surface condensers, and patent feathering floats. The BEN NEVIS had new engines by Messrs. T. A. Young and Son, at Blackwell, and other repairs in 1884, at a cost of over £5,000. The tugs have always been well kept up, are in first-rate working order, are now employed towing yawls in the Channel, and will be at Blackwell Buoys for Inspection'
