P. D. Bennett and Co
1853 Peter Duckworth Bennett commenced business on his own account as a mechanical engineer at Spon Lane Foundry, West Bromwich, being principally engaged with work for railways and gas works.
1866 Supplied the ironwork for the new station at Crewe. They also had in hand 1200 tons of iron columns and girders for the new Smithfield market. They had recently shipped ornate ironwork to constitute the main part of the buildings of the Victoria and Albert Museum in Bombay, to the design of Scott and McClennan, architects, of Bombay. The building was to be clad externally with stone[1]. The museum is now the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai City Museum.
1878 this business was amalgamated with that of the Horseley Ironworks, Tipton; Bennett became managing director and engineer of the combined business.
