1943 William Morris founded the Nuffield Foundation with an endowment of £10 million in order to advance education and social welfare.

1961 Lord Nuffield, who owned all of the shares in Morris Garages, has made them over to the Nuffield Foundation. The company had 2 subsidiaries: Charles Raworth and Son and Stradlings, motor distributors and engineers of Newbury.[1]
