1966 Managing director of The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Ltd. He was nominated for election as President of The Iron and Steel Institute for the session 1967-68, to take office at the Annual General Meeting on May 3rd, 1967. He has been a member of the Institute since 1935. He is an honarary member of The American Iron and Steel Institute, and a member of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and of The Australian Foundrymen's Institute. He holds honorary degrees of Doctor of Science from both the University of Newcastle, and he is a member of the Council of the University of Melbourne.[1]
