Newbiggin Colliery Co

From Graces Guide

Newbiggin-by-the Sea, Northumberland

1907 Newbiggin Colliery Company Limited was registered, with capital of £125,000, privately subscribed. The royalty area secured by the company covered Newbiggin Moor from a point near the existing Woodhorn Colliery, and also ran under the sea. The coal was proved to be of an excellent steam coal quality and it was projected that output should reach 3,000 tons a day and would be shipped from the nearby port of Blyth.[1]
