1902 The company was registered on 24 July, to take over the properties, situated near Leeds, of the Silkstone and Haigh Moor Coal Co. [1]

1919 'Airedale Collieries. To acquire (a) the business carried on at Allerton-Bywater, near Castleford, and elsewhere, by or on behalf of the New Silkstone and Haigh Moor Coal Co., Ltd.. and (b) the other business carried on at Wheldale and Frystone, Yorks., and elsewhere, by or on behalf of the Wheldale Coal Co.
