NEIL KENNEDY, born at Lianachan, Inverness-shire, in June, 1850, died at Wimbledon, on the 10th of June, 1913.

Having gained experience on railway construction and surveying, he served from 1875 to 1882 on the engineering staff of the Rio Tinto Co, and was subsequently engaged on iron-ore mining in Bilbao, in the construction of the Great South of Spain Railway, and as General Manager of the Barcelona tramways.

He was also connected with the development of gold mines in New Zealand and copper mines in Mexico.

From 1904 until his death he was associated with the Rio Tinto Company in London. He was a director of several companies, and author of a book on Surveying and a Paper in the Proceedings' which gained a Telford premium.

Mr. Kennedy was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 7th December, 1880, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 13th May, 1884.
