Mitre Hotel, Oxford
High Street, Oxford
1310 An inn was established, later becoming the property of Lincoln College and it was probably at this time that it became known as The Mitre, after the mitre of the Bishop of Lincoln depicted on the college's coat of arms
c.1630 The modern building was created. The Mitre was a coaching inn, with services to London
1969 The Mitre ceased to be an hotel, with its upstairs rooms being used by Lincoln College as student accommodation. The bar and restaurant downstairs, established in 1967, continued to function as before under the Mitre name
