"MIROSLAW KWASIEBORSKI, who was born in Poland in 1901, spent nearly the whole of his engineering career in his native country. He was educated at the Technical University in Warsaw, where he obtained the Diploma of Engineering.
His apprenticeship was served with various engineering firms during his college vacations, and for some two years he acted as assistant lecturer in physics at the Technical University. From 1930 to 1938 he was employed as designer of artillery equipment at the steelworks of Messrs. Starachowice, Ltd., of Warsaw, which factory was producing guns and ammunition, and manufactured the first lot of 40 mm. Bofors guns supplied to Britain in 1939.
For the last four years of this period he was in charge of the design office composed of over a hundred engineers and draughtsmen. During his professional life he obtained several patents. Mr. Kwasieborski was a very modest man, entirely devoted to science and work. After suffering imprisonment at the hands of the Russians for two years he saw service with the Polish Forces under British Command in Persia, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, and Italy. In 1947 he was appointed assistant lecturer at the Polish University College in London, but subsequently he went to South America, where his death occurred shortly afterwards at Buenos Aires on 22nd September 1949. Mr. Kwasieborski had been an Associate of the Institution since 1947."
