Ministry of Supply












1939 the Ministry of Supply was created with responsibility for co-ordinating the supply of equipment to all three British armed forces; there was also a separate ministry responsible for aircraft production (Ministry of Aircraft Production) and the Admiralty retained responsibilities for supplying the Royal Navy.[1]
1945-46 Ministry of Supply and Aircraft Production
Post-WWII: the actual production of aircraft, which had been the responsibility of the Ministry of Aircraft Production (1940–46), became the responsibility of the Ministry of Supply (1946–59), the Ministry of Aviation (1959–67) and finally the Ministry of Technology (1967–70).
1959 The Ministry of Supply was closed and its responsibility transferred to other ministries.
