1966 The Ministry was established to take over the functions of the Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance and the National Assistance Board, except for certain powers transferred to a new Supplementary Benefits Commission (which was to have responsibility for general guidance on supplementary benefits awards and individual awards).
1968 Merged into the Department of Health and Social Security; the divisions of the short-lived Ministry were absorbed into the new Department with little evident change.
