Millwall Lead Co

1890 Pontifex and Wood Ltd transferred all of their white lead, colour, varnish, sheet lead and lead piping business to Millwall Lead Co Ltd [1]

1890 Messrs Colthurst and Harding purchased the paint, colour and varnish business which had been carried on for 100 years by Pontifex and Wood[2]; they would continue the business in conjunction with their works at Bristol[3]

1894 An inquest found that a female worker had died of lead poisoning; there were several other cases amongst workers living on both sides of the river[4]

1895 Locke, Lancaster and W. W. and R. Johnson and Sons acquired the business and factory of the Millwall Lead Co (formerly Pontifex and Wood).
