Metropolitan-Vickers-Beyer-Peacock

1949 Private company formed as joint venture between Beyer, Peacock and Co and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co Ltd[1] to design, manufacture and assemble railway locomotives other than steam. New factory at Stockton-on-Tees.

1952 Production mostly of electric locomotives for Brazil[2].

1959 Commences building a batch of 135, Class 5E1, 2200 h.p., 3000V d.c., Bo-Bo, locomotives for South African Railways.[3]

1961 In view of declining rail production, Beyer Peacock reorganised its affairs, making space at Gorton for all manufacturing of all types of railway locomotives; Metropolitan-Vickers-Beyer-Peacock was placed into liquidation[4].
