1908 Mr H W Richards established a flour milling business at Crayford - see Vitbe Flour Mills

1919 A private company was incorporated to acquire the business

1927 Started to manufacture its proprietary flour Vitbe with added wheatgerm that boosted Vitamin B levels.

WWII Restrictions placed on production of Vitbe which continued until 1950

1943 Acquired R. W. Beard (Essex) Ltd, a private bakery company with associated shops.

1950 Converted into a public company. Vitbe was in use by many bakeries; the Aerated Bread Co used it in all of its bakeries.

1956 Renamed Vitbe Flour Mills Ltd[1]

1961 Vitbe Flour Mills Ltd was acquired by Associated British Foods[2]
