1864 October 22nd. The Melbourne and Suburban Railway Co and the St. Kilda and Brighton Railway Co were amalgamated with the Melbourne and Hobson's Bay Railway Co.

1878 The combined company, known as the Melbourne and Hobson's Bay United Railway Co, was taken over by the Government of Victoria and became part of Victorian Railways.
