1862 Company established by Arthur Mechan at Cranstounhill.[1]

1889 Article: Makers of riveted steel tubing, up to 1/4" thick, and from 4" to 48" diameter. One of the earliest orders was for a water conduit for Savanilla in South America. Multiple punching machines were used for punching up to 72 holes in the plate at a time.' [2]

1904 Incorporated as a limited company.

1914 General engineers. Specialities: marine, gold mining, water, cyanide and sugar plants. Employees 1,700. [3]

1915 Name changed to Mechans Ltd
