1884 Hiram Stevens Maxim formed the Maxim Gun Co with Albert Vickers as chairman, having previously received financial help from the Vickers company to perfect his design of gun[1].

His laboratory was in Hatton Garden, London

1888 The company merged with the Nordenfelt Co to become the Maxim Nordenfelt Guns and Ammunition Co; the new company established various factories at Erith near Crayford, in Kent,
