Masakazu Negishi (1874-1935)

Masakazu Negishi was born in 1874 and was educated at Tokyo University, where he obtained the Degree of Dr. Eng. He subsequently became Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Tokyo Technical College and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Tokyo Higher Technical College.

From 1909-12 he travelled in England, America, and Germany under the aegis of the Japanese Government in order to make a special study of mechanical engineering problems.

In addition to his academic work he was Technical Advisor of Miyata Works, Tokyo, and Vice-President of the Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineers.

He died on 21st January, 1935, at the age of 61.

He was elected a Member of the Institution in 1923.
