1998 August: GEC acquired Siemens' 40% stake in the remainder of GPT and merged it with the telecoms units of its Italian subsidiary Marconi SpA, GEC Hong Kong and ATC South Africa to form Marconi Communications.

1998 Won a contract to supply BT with equipment to prepare for increased internet traffic; the equipment would be made in Coventry[1]

1999 Won a contract from Boeing to upgrade the AWACS aircraft operated by NATO[2]. Acquired an Israeli company specialising in wireless internet equipment[3]

1999 GEC changed its name to Marconi plc. Acquired 2 US companies which supplied telecomms. equipment to telephone networks in the USA[4]

2006 Marconi Communications Ltd became Telent Communications Ltd[5]

2008 Telent Communications Ltd became Telent Technology Services Ltd[6]
