1975 Magnet Joinery Ltd and Southerns-Evans Ltd, which had had close associations for some time, merged to form Magnet and Southerns[1]

1984 Magnet Joinery and Timber Ltd was incorporated (presumably a subsidiary)

1987 Magnet and Southerns had made major expansion into retail, having opened 175 stores, and raised funds to open more[2]

1988 Magnet and Southerns planned to sell its timber importing business, Southerns-Evans[3], which was acquired by Harrisons and Crosfield[4]. The kitchen and bedroom manufacturer was renamed Magnet[5]

1988 Magnet Joinery and Timber Ltd was renamed Magnet Joinery Ltd

1989 Magnet Joinery Ltd was renamed Magnet Holdings Ltd
