Maclay and Co

From Graces Guide

Thistle Brewery, Alloa

1896 The company was registered as a public company, with a share capital of £75,000, to acquire, as at 1st July 1896, the business of Maclay and Co, brewers, Alloa, established by James Maclay in the year 1830.[1]

1999 Closure of the Thistle Brewery was announced, together with plans to open a new facility, Forth Brewery, on a greenfield site in Alloa, though some brewing was to be carried out at the Belhaven Brewery. Thistle Brewery was by now the last remaining brewery in a town which had once boasted eight.[2]
