of Forth Shipbuilding Yard, Alloa

Shipbuilders

1904 The firm were reported to have completed the fitting out of their new shipbuilding yard, and were poised to start work on their first contract, two vessels of around 140 feet, for the Shipping Agency Ltd, London. This was seen as marking the revival of shipbuilding in the town.[1]

1914 The yard was offered for sale as a going concern, being described as the best on the River Forth and close to the naval base at Rosyth, with six building berths for ships from 180 to 350 feet in length.[2] The yard was reported to have been sold to a Mr H. Buckland, engineer and shipbuilder, 24 Southwark Bridge Road, London, with numerous contracts on hand.[3]
