1977 Charter Consolidated acquired MKR Holding Ltd. Two principal subsidiaries:
- MK Refrigeration Ltd
- Gaskell and Chambers Ltd.
Other MKR companies supply catering and hotel furniture and provide installation and services for refrigeration and air handling equipment.
1978 MKR acquired Paterex Ltd, which manufactured precision turned parts for the aircraft industry.
1979-80 Doubled expenditure on R&D
c.1982 Established a new subsidiary, Logic Engineering Ltd, which had developed the Microptic computer controlled bar system.
