Lycoming Engines is a major aircraft engine company in the USA

It is known primarily for their smaller general aviation engines. For most of its history Lycoming has been part of the AVCO group as Avco-Lycoming.

1928 Lycoming began making small- and medium-sized piston engines, of which many thousands have been made for all types of aircraft and helicopters.

1936 the company became a division of the Avco Corporation

1956 Entered the small-gas-turbine business with production contracts for the U.S. Services in respect of engines of their own design

1987 AVCO was purchased by Textron Inc to become Textron Lycoming.

2002 the company was renamed Lycoming Engines

2015 Lycoming Engines is a division of Avco Corporation. Avco Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Textron Inc[1].
