London County Council operated tramways

1896 The London County Council decided to sanction the purchase, cost of £675,000, of the undertakings within the County of London of the North Metropolitan and London Street Tramway Companies[1] but this decision was challenged in court which delayed the process.

1898 It was proposed by the chairman of the Highways Committee that London County Council create a tramways department.[2]

1898 LCC decided to purchase the undertaking of the London Tramway Company for £850,003.[3]

1906/8 Opened Kingsway Tram Subway

1906 Description of power station at Greenwich.[4] [5] [6]

1931 Opened the Kingsway Tram Subway with increased headroom

1952 End of tram service in London
