1854 'Mr. LEWIS SOLOMON, of Covent-garden Market, has obtained from the Directors of the Crystal Palace Company permission to erect in the central transept an EXHIBITION of the CHOICEST RARITIES of the Season, setting forth an extraordinary display of Christmas trees, Christmas gifts, fruit and flowers, and other appropriate novelties, characteristic of the approaching festival of Christmas.'[1]
