1860s Steel works established[2]
1888 Company incorporated with capital of £100,000. First directors, Walter Scott, John Scott, Robert Hammond and Lord William Beauchamp Nevell.[3]
1888 The Iron and Steel Works at Hunslet were acquired by the Leeds Steel Works Co.[sic]
1889 Began manufacturing operations under the direction of Mr. Walter Scott, of Newcastle-on-Tyne, as Chairman of the Company.
1895 Exhibited girders with flanges made with a specially rolled bar under the patent of Messrs Vaughan, Richards and Scott.[4]
1900 Walter Scott Ltd was registered on 4 December, to acquire steel and iron works and collieries, the properties of the Leeds Steel Works, and Walter Scott, both private limited companies. [5]
1901 Decision taken to wind up Leeds Steel Works Limited. "... at an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Company, .... on Friday, the llth day of January, 1901, the subjoined Special Resolution was duly confirmed:— That the Company be wound up voluntarily, and that Mr. Walter Scott, the Chairman of the Company, be and he is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purposes of such winding up. Dated this 11th day of January 1901. - Walter Scott, Chairman".[6]
