1897 Public company. The company was registered on 27 April, to take over the business of a private company of the same name. [1]

1951 Nationalised under the Iron and Steel Act; became part of the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain[2]

By 1954 was a part of Colvilles Ltd [3].

1961 Steel manufacturers and rollers. Manufacture steel by Siemens Martin open hearth process, joists and sections for structural engineering, shipbuilding, wagon building. Bridge and gantry rails and constructional steelwork. T.H. yielding arches for underground roadway supports. 1,500 employees. [4]
