L. Láng of Budapest, Hungary

Brief extracts from a US Special Agent's report [1]: 'The most important engine-building plant in Hungary is that of L. Láng, located in Budapest. The correct title and address of this firm is Láng L. Gepgyara, Budapest, Hungary. It will be noticed that the initial of the Christian name of Lang follows the surname. This is in accordance with the Hungarian language.' The Lang works were established about 40 years previously by Ladislaus Láng. At the time of the visit about 650 people were employed. The main production was reciprocating steam and gas engines and steam turbines, for which Láng held the Zoelly turbine rights for Austria-Hungary. The author was complimentary about the standard of finish of the work, but stated that 'Seldom are shops found where such high-class work is undertaken with so few American tools.' !
