of Fishamble Street, Dublin
1829 Advert: 'ARTISTS AND MECHANICS WAREHOUSE AND LATHE MANUFACTORY, 19, FISHAMBLE STREET, DUBLIN, ESTABLISHED 1780. KENNAN AND SON solicit an inspection of their Stock of Mechanical Instruments, including every variety for Carpenters, Cabinets-makers, Smiths, Turners, and all other Trades.
Turning Lathes and Turning Apparatus, of a superior description, at reduced prices, for this branch of their trade they have erected a machine for planeing Metals. They have also erected a machine for generating screws, by which they can make perfectly accurate screws, of any required size or pitch.
Their Machinery enables them to execute work in a style hitherto unknown in Dublin.
They can confidently recommend their Odometers, for measuring Roads; they are warranted correct, and will be found valuable to Gentlemen having to certify presentments or wishing to measure task work.
Tool Chests ready furnished, of all sizes, and being home made, they will be found much cheaper and considerably better than those that are imported. Oat Bruisers and Straw Cutters, different sizes. Ivory, Hard Woods, and all the Metals and materials required in the Arts.
K. and S. hope by moderate charges and strict adherence to their rule of asking but one price, not keeping any inferior goods, and warranting every article they sell, merit a continuance of that support which they gratefully acknowledge has been conferred on their Establishment for fifty years.'[1]
