KATSUMI UEKI died on August 17, 1931, at the age of 28.

For six years he was a student at the Technological University at Port Arthur, South Manchuria, taking his degree in July, 1931. The course of research he selected was on non-ferrous alloys, and he was the first student of his college to choose this.

Mr. Ueki was elected a student member on December 19, 1928, and became a full member of the Institute on June 1, 1929.
