Engineer and Manufacturer of Pumps, of Railway Station, Deptford, and 12 Garlick Hill City, E.C.

1831 Josiah Stone (1803-1867), formerly employed with Gordon and Co, started a workshop on Deptford Green.

1842 Rented four railway arches under Deptford Station from the London and Greenwich Railway, and later rented all the arches under the station, which included those previously occupied by the L&G's railway works. They remained there until 1881 when they opened their factory near North Kent East Junction Station.[1]

1848 Mentioned. Joshua Stone, at the Railway station, Deptford, brassfounder and contractor. Works at Counter Hill, near New cross.[2]

1859 Advertising as Sole Manufacturer of Downton's Ship Pumps.
