1872 Company founded by Joseph Wilson.
1879 Fred Wilson joined, Joseph's eldest son.
1892 Joseph died. Left the business in the capable hands of his four sons.
At one point it employed about 1000 people.
1900 Became a limited company.
1901 14th January, There was a boiler explosion due to the build up of alcoholic vapour in a drying stove in the proofing department. 13 people were killed, 12 were severely injured and 39 received minor injuries. [1]
1966 Wilson's amalgamated with four other hat manufacturers to form Associated British Hat Manufacturers Ltd (ABHM Ltd). [2]
1980 All hat manufacturing moved to the works of Christy and Co on Higher Hillgate, Stockport.
1980 Wilson's hat works closed. [3]
