Born the son of James Dronfield, a Rollercoverer, and his wife Hannah Winterbottom. They had four daughters and four sons.

1901 Living at 11 Alexandra Road, Oldham: Joseph Standring Dronsfield (age 59 born Oldham), Machinist and Card Grinder - Employer. With his wife Elizabeth and his aunt Augusta.[1]
