Joseph P. Wolfe ( -1933), formerly the chief engineer of the White Star liner RMS Majestic

* 1933 Obituary[1]

IT is with regret that we have to record the death on Tuesday, October 10th, of Mr. Joseph P. Wolfe, formerly the chief engineer of the White Star liner "Majestic." Mr. Wolfe was born in Liverpool and educated in London, where he served his apprenticeship with the Thames Ironworks, and afterwards with Laird Brothers, of Birkenhead. He began his sea-going career with Lamport and Holt, Ltd., and transferred to the American Line in 1894, later going to the White Star Line, in which he served as chief engineer in many of the largest liners. At the end of the war Mr. Wolfe was sent by the White Star Line to Germany to superintend the completion of the "Homeric" and "Majestic" prior to these liners being handed over. Later he took over the post of chief engineer of the "Majestic," and remained with her from that time until indisposition caused him to relinquish his post in October, 1930.
