Joseph Nelson (1777-1833)

1777 Born at Birstall, bear Batley. (some say he was a native of Whitkirk, Leeds)

1833 March. Death of Joseph Nelson, of Newsome Green, Civil Engineer, age 55. 'the most eminent builder of light-houses of the day'.[1]

  • South Stack (1809)
  • Bideford (1820)
  • Bardsey Island (1821)
  • Longstone (1826)
  • Berwick-upon-Tweed (1826)
  • Burnham-on-Sea lower light (1832)
