Born at Exeter the son of William Woodman, a General Practitioner, and his wife Isabella Henrietta Musgrove. Half-brother to William Robert Woodman

1901 Died. 'The funeral of the late Dr. John Woodman, of Southernhay, Exeter, took place at the Higher Cemetery, Exeter, yesterday. The deceased was a physician of high attainments and wide experience. Beyond the extensive practice enjoyed he was one of the Medical-officers of Health of the city, and also held several other appointments.'[1]
